Always follow your clinic's own dates; they can change with how embryos develop. Dates from a frozen transfer count from the embryo's age, not from egg collection. The two week wait can be hard, and your clinic can offer support.
Tummy pain, swelling, feeling sick or breathless after egg collection can be ovarian hyperstimulation: call your clinic's emergency line, or 111. Severe symptoms: 999.
The working
From collection day
With egg collection on 1 November, a day 5 transfer is 6 November. A pregnancy test is usually about 2 weeks after collection, around 17 November. If pregnant, the due date would be 25 July 2027, 266 days after collection.
How weeks are counted
The 2 week head start
Pregnancy weeks count from 2 weeks before egg collection, the date a natural last period would have been. So on transfer day you are already about 2 weeks 5 days pregnant by the usual count, if it works.
The two week wait
Getting through it
- Testing early can give a false result
- Keep busy with gentle plans
- Normal activity is fine unless told otherwise
- Fertility Network UK has a support line
Frozen transfers
Counting from the embryo
With a frozen embryo, egg collection might have been months ago, so dates count from the transfer and the embryo's age. A day 5 embryo transferred on 10 January gives a due date 261 days later, 28 September, and a test about 11 days after transfer, around 21 January. A day 3 embryo adds 2 days to each. Add your transfer date and the planner shows both.
