The day looks right for mid-luteal progesterone by the calendar. Progesterone is checked about 7 days before your period is due; with irregular cycles it may be repeated weekly until the next period. Clinics run to tight schedules: note any blood test or scan timings they have given you, and check whether you need a full bladder or to fast.
Pain, bleeding or feeling unwell during fertility treatment: call your clinic's emergency number, or NHS 111.
The working
Days and cycle day
An appointment 14 days away, with your last period 5 days ago in a 28 day cycle, falls on cycle day 20. Some blood tests are timed to set cycle days, so it is worth checking.
Pick what the appointment is for. Early follicular bloods (FSH, LH, oestradiol) and baseline scans are usually on cycle days 2 to 5. The 'day 21' progesterone test is really about 7 days before your next period: NICE CG156 says day 21 of a 28 day cycle and later in longer cycles, for example day 28 of a 35 day cycle. We take a window of 6 to 8 days before the next period is due, so day 20 to 22 in a 28 day cycle; the example appointment on day 20 fits. If it does not, the page gives the next window by the calendar. AMH can be tested on any day.
