Dates are approximate, because invites follow your GP practice's round. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland run their own programmes, so check NHS inform, Public Health Wales or the Public Health Agency if you live there.

Common questions

When does breast screening start?

You should get your first invite between 50 and your 53rd birthday, then every 3 years.

Can I have breast screening after 71?

Yes. You will not get a routine invite, but you can contact your local breast screening service to ask.

Who is invited?

Everyone registered with a GP as female, aged 50 up to their 71st birthday. If you are transgender or non binary and would like to be invited, ask your GP surgery for advice.
