The NHS Health Check looks at your blood pressure, cholesterol, weight and lifestyle to spot risks of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease early. Your GP or council sends the invite; if it has not come, ask.
If a result worries you, ask your GP surgery or practice nurse to talk it through. Call 111 if you feel unwell and are not sure what to do.
The working
A check on 10 January 2026, aged 58
An NHS Health Check comes round every five years, so the next is due on 10 January 2031, and at about 62 by then they are still inside the 40 to 74 range. If the same date was a yearly review for a long term condition, the next would be 10 January 2027. Age only changes the Health Check answer: under 40 or over 74 you are outside the programme.
