Pairing moves that use different muscles (a push with a pull, an upper with a lower) saves time without losing much. A 2017 study found the same work done in roughly half the time.

The working

6 exercises as 3 pairs

Straight sets take 6 × 3 × (40 + 90) seconds = 39 minutes. As supersets with 15 seconds to switch: 3 × 3 × (80 + 15 + 90) = 28 minutes, saving 11 minutes.
